The winter transfer market is always a period of intense rumour and potential big-money moves. A number of prominent stars are being connected to transfers out of their current clubs. We examine some of the top figures who are poised to be on the move this month.

A. Semenyo

This prolific English centre-forward has continued finding the net frequently in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League might enhance his dwindling hopes of being in the England squad. Kees Smit

The highly-touted Dutch midfielder has earned parallels to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. After starring at the U19 Euros, Smit has broken into the AZ Alkmaar side. This 19-year-old is heavily expected to complete a big-money transfer this month. Newcastle are believed to be leading the chase, but could face stiff competition from Real Madrid for a deal valued at approximately £22 million.
