The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Anger Over Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Changes
Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
